CIMU held the 17th Chinese Bridge Preliminary Round

On April 12th , 2018, Confucius Institute at Moi University held the preliminary round of the 17th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Kenya division, aiming to select students to take part in the competition which would be held in Nairobi University on May 11th .

There were 25 students coming to Rivatex to take part in the preliminary round, competing for the 5 entry tickets to the competition.

The contest began with a speech by Director Huang Peixi. He introduced the history of the Chinese bridge and encouraged the contestants to show their best.

The competition was judged by three teachers from CIMU and the champion of the 9th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Kenya division.

The contest was consisted of two parts: Chinese speech and talent show.  In the speech section, the participants read the designated Chinese articles , and then the judges rated the pronunciation and the degree of completion; In the talent section, the students could perform whatever they were good at, someone sang beautiful Chinese songs, someone showed their calligraphy and painting skills, and also lots of students choose to dance.

Finally, after the intense competition and judges’ heated discussion, 5 students were selected, they would be trained on Chinese speech skill, Chinese culture and talent show to prepare for the upcoming 17th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Kenya division.
